Drain Relining in Nottingham — No-Dig Pipe Repair
A cracked or root-invaded drain doesn't always mean digging up your garden or driveway. Drain relining inserts a resin-impregnated liner into the damaged pipe, cures it in place, and forms a new pipe within the old one. Across Nottingham's Victorian terraces of Sneinton, Hyson Green and Radford, the original clay drainage cracks at the joints — and the city's mature tree-lined suburbs make root ingress one of the most common faults we see. We survey with CCTV first, so you only pay to reline what's actually damaged.

0115 647 7380When Relining Is the Right Fix
Drain relining works well for hairline cracks, fractured clay joints, root ingress, displaced joints, and minor partial collapse where the pipe still holds its basic shape. If the pipe has fully collapsed — the walls have caved in and there is no continuous bore to line — relining is not possible. That is an excavation job, and we will say so after the CCTV survey rather than sell a liner that cannot be installed.
How Drain Relining Works
The process begins with a CCTV survey to map the damage and confirm the pipe holds its shape throughout the affected section. We then clean and descale the drain — Nottingham's hard water means limescale often coats old clay pipes and must be removed before the liner will bond — using a combination of jetting and mechanical descaling tools. A resin-soaked felt liner is winched into the pipe and inflated against the pipe wall with a bladder, pressing the liner firmly into every contour of the existing pipe. Once the resin cures into a hard, jointless lining approximately 6 mm thick, the bladder is removed and a final CCTV pass confirms the result. Most jobs take a single day, with no excavation required.
Why Nottingham Homes Need It
Nottingham has an unusually large stock of Victorian and Edwardian terraces — particularly across Sneinton, Hyson Green, Radford, and Lenton — that sit on original clay drainage now well over a century old. Clay pipes crack at the joints as ground conditions shift over time, and the city's mature street trees seek out those cracks as moisture sources. Root ingress starts as a hairline intrusion and widens the crack while creating a net that catches passing debris. Relining seals every joint permanently without disturbing the property above.
Cost and Quoting
Relining is priced per metre once the survey has confirmed the extent of the damage. The cost of the CCTV survey is set against the job if you proceed with the relining. We provide a fixed written quote before any work starts and charge no call-out fee. There are no per-hour rates.
